One of the things I like doing occasionally is experimenting with high-speed capture of water droplets. This particular shot was achieved by inverting a world map on the wall behind my setup, then dropping water through a photogate sensor which triggered the camera to catch the drop at the top of the ‘Worthington jet’ – the plume created when a drop splashes into a container of water. The image of the map is captured through the droplet which acts as a lens.
